All our products comply with European and national regulations for toy safety for both materials used and their processing, and they also comply with US standards, in particular ASTM standard consumer safety specification on toy safety (F 963).
They comply with the European toy safety directive (2009/48/EG) and the EU directive on general product safety (2001/95/EG), as well as the EU standard for toy safety (EN 71). These directives outline the main points and specifications that must be legislated in European and national standards, and laws.
All materials used in production are first carefully inspected before they are approved for production.
An independent testing institute, the TÜV Rheinland AG, with many years of experience constantly inspects and tests our materials and finished products.
Our wooden toys are subjected to internal quality-assurance testing as well as external testing. In particular, mechanical safety tests are conducted, which include shock and drop tests, perspiration and saliva tests and soak tests to determine the level of resistance of all individual parts, as well as a final tensile test.
All toys made of fabrics are tested by TÜV Rheinland for hazardous substances: Among others, they are tested according to the directive for azo compounds (synthetic dyes) 76/769/EG and change 19 of directive 2002/61.
When using plastic components, the directive 2005/84 on the restriction of marketing and the use of dangerous substances and preparations (phthalates in toys and childcare articles) must be adhered to. We strictly test our plastic and synthetic-rubber products according to the tolerances indicated by this directive on plasticizers and many other critical substances. Our tests go far beyond the legal requirements.
